The Citroen C1 is a small car with a straightforward job: get its owner from A to B cheaply and reliably. Many C1s spend a lot of their time on short urban trips, and that driving pattern matters more than most people realise when it comes to the catalytic converter.
At Catman, we supply replacement C1 cat converters for petrol models across the UK at competitive prices. Confirm your vehicle by registration, get a price, and we’ll dispatch with tracking. Every part carries a minimum 12-month guarantee.
The C1 ran in two distinct generations. The first, produced from 2005 to 2014, was built around a 1.0-litre petrol engine. As these cars age, catalytic converter wear can become a consideration, particularly on vehicles that have spent years on short urban journeys.
The second generation, launched in 2014, introduced a 1.2-litre petrol engine on many variants to meet tighter emissions rules. The replacement cat for these cars can differ from the older 1.0-litre unit in both the part number and specification, depending on the engine code of your particular vehicle.
The right part depends on which generation you have and the engine code for your car. The year it was made gives you a starting point, but the engine code is what determines the correct cat. Your registration is the quickest way to confirm both.
The C1 was built on a shared factory platform alongside the Toyota Aygo and the Peugeot 107, and from 2014 the Peugeot 108. This is well known, and it leads to a common assumption: that catalytic converters for these vehicles are interchangeable. Some are similar. Many are not.
How the exhaust is routed, where it mounts, and which part number is required can all vary between the three brands, even when the engines are closely related. A cat listed for a Toyota Aygo or a Peugeot 107 may look the same and may even bolt on, but if it’s not the right part for your C1’s engine it may not work correctly or pass an MOT emissions test.
If a garage or supplier has quoted you a part from a related vehicle, it might be fine, but it’s worth checking. We confirm every part against the engine code for your specific C1 before we dispatch anything.
Replacement cats for the C1’s 1.0-litre petrol engine tend to be towards the lower end of the price range, which reflects how straightforward the exhaust system is on a small car like this. If your C1 has the 1.2-litre engine from the second generation, the part may differ and the price can vary depending on the spec required.
We don’t list fixed prices because the right figure depends on your exact part.
Once we’ve confirmed your engine code from your registration, we’ll come back with the best price we can offer. Enter your reg to get started, or contact us if you have questions first.
We supply parts only. Fitting is carried out by your own garage or mechanic at your expense. Because we supply at wholesale prices, buying from us and having a local garage fit the part is often still considerably cheaper than going through a main dealer or exhaust specialist for both supply and fitting together.
One important point for whoever fits the part: do not use exhaust paste on the front of the cat. Exhaust paste goes brittle as it dries and can block or damage the converter, which voids the warranty immediately. New gaskets must be fitted instead.
Not always, and it’s worth understanding this before you order. The catalytic converter is one part of a wider emissions control system. There are several other reasons a petrol car can fail an MOT emissions test, including problems with oxygen sensors, fuel trims, ignition faults, or other engine issues that affect the quality of exhaust gases reaching the cat.
If your C1 has failed on emissions, a diagnostic check to identify the root cause is the right first step. Replacing the cat on a car with an underlying engine fault may not resolve the failure. If the cat is confirmed as the cause, we can get you the right part quickly.
A catalytic converter needs heat to work properly. The exhaust has to reach a certain temperature before the cat can break down harmful gases effectively. On a longer drive that happens quickly and stays that way. On a short trip of a couple of miles, the exhaust may never get hot enough before the engine is switched off.
Many C1s spend most of their time on short trips around town, and that kind of use can wear out a catalytic converter sooner than you’d expect. Starting from cold repeatedly and never getting the exhaust fully up to temperature puts more strain on the cat than a mix of town and longer drives. It’s worth knowing if you’re wondering why your C1 is showing a catalyst problem despite relatively low mileage.
Signs that the cat may be failing include an engine management light with a catalyst fault code, a sulphur or eggy smell from the exhaust, or a noticeable drop in performance. A rattle from underneath the car can point to the internal structure breaking down, though it’s worth getting a diagnostic check done first to confirm the cat is the cause before ordering a replacement.
Every cat we supply carries a minimum 12-month guarantee. If a part proves to be faulty within that period, return it to us for inspection. Once the warranty claim is confirmed, a full refund is issued. Replacement parts must be paid for in full in the meantime. Labour costs are not covered by the guarantee, either by Catman or the manufacturer, so any refitting costs following a fault are at the customer’s expense.
If you need to make a warranty claim following an MOT failure, you’ll need to provide a four-gas report showing the HC, CO, CO2 and O2 readings from the test. Claims without this cannot be considered.
Returns must be requested within 10 days of payment. Parts returned after that point will not be accepted for a refund. The part must be unused, undamaged, and in its original packaging. Parts that have been modified, incorrectly installed, or had exhaust paste applied are not covered by the warranty. If you think a part may be faulty, contact us within 14 days of noticing the problem.
Catalytic converters are all we do. With a car like the C1, where the Aygo and 107 connection means parts can get mixed up across the three vehicles, that focus matters. When you give us your registration, we look up the right part for your specific C1 rather than assuming a cross-platform part will do the job.
Every cat we supply is sourced to meet current UK and EU emissions standards and comes with a minimum 12-month guarantee. For a car that has to pass an annual MOT emissions test, knowing you have the right part and that it’s backed by a guarantee is what counts.
Enter your registration to confirm the right part and receive a price, or contact us directly if you’d prefer to discuss your vehicle first. We supply across the UK with fast, tracked delivery from dispatch.
