A complete reference can narrow a parts search more effectively than a model name. Record its letters, digits and suffixes carefully, and include the manufacturer or OE context if known.

Keep kit and specification suffixes

A converter supplied with a fitting kit may have a combined reference. Do not remove the second code or assume it is included when comparing a converter-only quote.

Understand a cross-reference

A catalogue cross-reference helps identify a possible equivalent application. It does not override differences in engine, date range, fitting position or specification. Ask Catman to confirm the intended application.

When a code cannot be read

Send a clear photograph or the relevant garage paperwork rather than guessing missing characters. Include the registration, model and engine details. Explain whether the number came from the old component, a previous invoice or an online listing.

If search finds no match

A missing result does not establish that a part is unavailable. It may reflect a different reference format or a catalogue gap. Send the complete code and its source in a manual enquiry; do not select a merely similar code to force a match.

Search the catalogue or ask for reference and fitment help.
