Information you provide
An enquiry may include your name or company, email address, telephone number, message, vehicle registration, confirmed vehicle details and the part you need. Staff may record quotation progress, contact notes and an order outcome. These details help CATman respond, check the requested part and manage the customer relationship. Historical enquiries from the previous CATman website are retained in the private enquiry system.
We use information to take steps you request before a purchase, fulfil an agreed order, meet applicable legal obligations and pursue legitimate interests such as answering genuine enquiries and protecting the service. Reading this notice or submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.
Vehicle registration searches
When you choose registration lookup, the registration is sent securely through our server to Vehicle Data Global to retrieve vehicle details. We ask you to confirm the vehicle and still require the part specification to be checked. Lookup credentials are private. The website does not put registrations, VINs, contact details or free-text enquiry messages into Google Analytics.
Website measurement and your choices
Optional Google Analytics measurement is managed through Google Tag Manager and loads only after you accept analytics. It helps us understand page visits, searches, unsuccessful searches, registration-lookup outcomes and contact actions. You can decline it and still search, call, use WhatsApp or send an enquiry. Use Cookie settings at any time to change your choice.
With analytics consent, the website can retain limited campaign information and record anonymous call, WhatsApp and email-button clicks with the page and button position. A click is not proof that a conversation or sale occurred. Your registration, name, phone number, email and message are excluded from those measurement events.
Cookies and browser storage
Essential staff-session cookies protect the private admin. The website uses browser storage for your cookie choice, enquiry retry protection, consented source information and a vehicle you explicitly confirm. Cookie choices are reviewed after 180 days. Selected vehicle details are session information. Optional Google cookies are subject to your analytics choice.
Service providers and security
Authorised staff and service providers for hosting, email delivery, vehicle information and consented analytics may process information for those purposes. Enquiries are stored before a notification email is attempted. The admin and private parts-reference library require sign-in. Security logs and abuse controls may process technical information such as IP addresses; operational monitoring stores fixed aggregate counters rather than enquiry messages or vehicle registrations.
Google and other providers may process information outside the UK under their applicable safeguards and terms. Opening a WhatsApp link takes you to WhatsApp, where its own privacy terms apply. A prefilled parts message does not automatically include your registration or contact details.
Retention
Retention depends on the purpose and status of an enquiry, any resulting order, accounting or other legal obligations, and any outstanding complaint or dispute. Contact CATman to ask about a record or request its removal. Information may need to be retained where a legal obligation or a legitimate unresolved matter requires it. Operational service counters are pruned after 30 days; these counters do not contain customer or registration details.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information, or object to processing. You may withdraw optional analytics consent through Cookie settings. Contact CATman using the details above; you can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
